I
can hardly believe we have just four days of school left! This is our last newsletter. It has been an incredible year and I have
loved being the teacher of such fabulous children! Thank you for helping make this school year
such a great success!
There
is a lot of information to give you for our last week of school!
Packing
Up:
·
Please
send in a large shopping bag with handles and your child’s name on it on
Tuesday. Your child will have a lot to
take home on Thursday and we will be packing up starting on Tuesday. (Children
will not need backpacks on Wednesday or Thursday)
Wednesday,
May 28th - Field Trip to Connor Prairie:
·
Be
at school at 8:00 a.m.
·
Bring
a sack lunch and drink. The lunch should
be in a throw away bag with your child’s name and class written on the outside.
·
It
may be chilly in the morning or on the bus, so send a sweater or jacket. We can leave those on the bus while we are at
Conner Prairie.
·
The
walkways are gravel so sandals or open toe shoes would not be comfortable.
·
We
will return to school around 4:30.
·
No
extended day
Friday,
May 30th - Awards Day:
·
Children
should be in
their classrooms at 8:00 a.m. The program starts at 8:30, so you can go ahead
and find a good seat!
·
The
children should wear dressy clothes, dressier than a normal school day.
·
The
program will last until 9:30 or 10:00 a.m.
There will be refreshments afterwards and your child goes home with you.
Many
of you have asked me to give you some ideas of what to do over the summer in
terms of getting ready for first grade.
I am attaching words we have learned to read this year – both sight
words as well as words your children have been able to sound out
phonetically. It would be a great idea
to make flash cards with these words on them for a good review before first
grade. I am also sending home the third
Everyday Math book of ideas to give you some great math activities to do with
your child over the summer.
I
hope you all have a safe, fun, and relaxing summer break! Your children have grown so much this year, I
am so proud of them and will be missing seeing their smiling faces over the
summer!
